When God created Adam in the garden He told him to be fruitful. He was speaking of children. He admonished Adam and Eve to reproduce after their own kind. Your children are fruit. They are evidence to the next generation that you were here. They are proof positive of your contribution to a time beyond you and a day that you might not be around to see.

It is Satan’s desire to destroy your fruit. He is a liar. With all we are we must maintain what God has entrusted to us. It is important that we war with the enemy. Do not allow crime or lust, teenage pregnancy, or suicide to destroy your fruit. God has a plan for your child. I want to share with you the fact that God gives life. Sex doesn’t give life; God does.

There are countless couples across this land who frequently have sex, wishing that they could produce a child. But you have already been blessed with a child. Sex did not give that child to you. Neither did sin. God is the giver of life. He has entrusted you with life itself. Your fruit shall remain.

Let’s talk about some of the insects that would destroy the fruit of those who have been gifted with children and have no spouse. Each situation attracts unique attacks. I will mention some situations that I have witnessed down through the years. If you know what they are, you can better know how to combat them.

1. Rearing children in your weakness rather than God’s strength

Many single parents continue to have traffic in the house. Their children are reared in an atmosphere that is full of different men or women coming and going all through the nights and weekends. These parents chastise their children for flirtations and warn them against immorality, then live in the filth of their own wanton lust. The children are repulsed by the double standards.

Clean up! Clean up! Clean up! Your child is looking at you. Those rodent affairs and relationships devour the time that you need with your children. They devour the respect that your children have for you. Yes, there is a way to meet positive persons who might become your companions. But to be sure, exposing your children to your compromise will never build character in them.

Satan may be using you to pollute the future of your child. You cannot help the mistakes of your past. But to continue to repeat them is a tragedy that can be avoided. If you are continuing to practice sin, stop it now!

I think that many single parents who have not accepted that they are now parents feel robbed of their opportunity to date and experience freedom. The Bible says that to him whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48). It is true. There is responsibility with child rearing. It is unavoidable.
